• Communication & ports: One Industrial Ethernet/PROFINET interface with an integrated 2‑port switch (X1, X2) supports line and ring topologies, allowing separate machine and plant networks on the same panel. • PLC connections & protocols: Up to 16 S7 connections and 16 third‑party Ethernet driver connections can run in parallel, enabling communication with multiple SIMATIC controllers and non‑Siemens PLCs. Communication is tag‑based via S7 protocol, OPC UA client, Modbus TCP, EtherNet/IP and SIMATIC HTTP, so HMI tags are simply mapped to PLC addresses or OPC UA node IDs for high‑performance data exchange. Unified Comfort panels can also act as OPC UA servers, exposing HMI tags directly to higher‑level systems such as SCADA, MES or cloud applications.

• Tag capacity & logging: Each Unified Comfort Panel supports up to 8,000 HMI tags per project for complex machines, structures and arrays. Up to 5,000 logging tags can be configured using file‑based archiving, allowing extensive long‑term trending, batch records and quality data to be stored locally or exported for further analysis.
